Abstract:
Every field of language practice has distinct observations based on its domain. Since language is a bearer of a changing society and environment, many subtle directions of language have emerged according to circumstances. Similarly, many new fields have been created within the Bengali language at the hands of Bengali writers and their creations. As literature has added new directions over time, the perspective of the Bengali language has changed repeatedly within its core. One such new direction is Eco- criticism, which began to be practiced vigorously in Bengali literature in the mid- twentieth century. In this, not only literary value but also language organizational value has been captured, which linguists have identified in one word with the terminology "Eco-linguistics". The environmental problems of the world—such as loss of biodiversity, food crisis, climate change, water crisis, fuel security, chemical pollution, alienation from nature, and questions of social justice—have constantly become the biggest challenge for the survival of the earth and humans. To make these issues clear, writers are developing language as a tool for environmental protection. Because we know that only language influences human thought and behavior. Values about the environment are built through language. Literature expresses human feelings about nature. Several perspectives or methods have been used in this article for the discussion of Eco-linguistics through explanation and analysis. Analysis of environmental writing, how the impact of the environment has directly reflected in the vocabulary of the Bengali language. Or the extensive use of words related to nature. In this article, I have tried to make a linguistic analysis by shining an analytical light on the creations of selected poets, novelists, and short story writers.
