The Valmiki Ramayana stands as one of the most significant spiritual and literary epics of world civilization. Composed by the sage Valmiki, it embodies the moral, cultural, and ethical ethos of ancient Indian society. Through its timeless narrative, the epic has continuously provided guidance for righteous living, social harmony, and inner strength. Each character in the Ramayana represents a distinct ideal, and among them, Hanuman emerges as the most dynamic and multifaceted personality.  In the seven cantas of the Ramayana, Hanuman is first introduced in the Kishkindha Kanda. Born to Pavanadeva and Anjana, he is portrayed from childhood as immensely powerful, wise, and devoted. His primary purpose on earth was to serve Lord Rama in the establishment of dharma. Hanuman is depicted as the embodiment of scholarship, intelligence, physical strength, humility, devotion, and selfless service. Kalidasa, in Raghuvamsha 15.103, refers to Vibhishana and Hanuman as “two pillars of glory” — kirtistambhadvayamiva — highlighting their enduring symbolic importance. As Sugriva’s friend, counselor, and minister, Hanuman also demonstrates political wisdom and administrative capability. This paper examines the life ideals of Hanuman as portrayed in the Ramayana and analyzes their relevance in contemporary society. The key ideals identified include devotion without ego, duty before self, courage with restraint, lifelong learning, and service to humanity. In the modern context, these ideals offer practical solutions to challenges such as leadership crisis, lack of ethical conduct, mental stress, and social disintegration. Hanuman’s model of combining strength with humility and knowledge with service provides a framework for personal development and nation-building.  Thus, Hanuman continues to remain not merely a mythological figure but a timeless role model whose values are deeply relevant for individuals and society in the 21st century.
